Advancing local MSMEs and instilling local pride, Gojek supports BBI program

May 2021, 07

Ramadan this time around is the same as last year’s. In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Indonesian government has implemented restrictions on mudik (exodus).

While this may impact the economy, especially local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) merchants, the government under the direction of the President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has initiated Hari Bangga Buatan Indonesia (Proud of Indonesian-made products Day) program, a week-long program that encourages people to purchase quality Indonesian-made products online to share with loved ones who we are not able to meet due to the  mudik restrictions.

To make the program even more appealing, the government has encouraged e-commerce platforms to provide free deliveries and shopping deals. Leading on-demand platform Gojek is one of the 72 platforms supporting the Hari BBI 2021 program.

“This year’s mudik is mudik at heart. It is hoped that these promos can encourage people to delay their Lebaran mudik as well as increase their drive to shop for Indonesian-made products,” said Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi, adding that the program was also meant to increase love and appreciation for locally made products.

Gojek Co-CEO Kevin Aluwi said Gojek’s participation in the Hari BBI 2021 program was in line with Gojek’s “Pasti Ada Jalan” (There’s Always A Way) spirit and its efforts to utilize technology to support the hundreds of thousands of business partners in the Gojek ecosystem, many of them which are MSMEs.

“For Gojek as a homegrown company, our participation in the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia movement reaffirms our commitment to supporting local businesses, including MSMEs, especially in the middle of a pandemic. Hari Bangga Buatan Indonesia, which is celebrated every May 5, also serves as an opportunity for us industry players to support each other to advance the national economy,” he said.

From May 5 to 13, 2021 consumers are tempted with free delivery and shopping deals during the Hari BBI 2021 program.

On its part, Gojek has prepared a plethora of promotions, which include free deliveries, cashback offers and discounts.

A discount of up to Rp 50,000 is available for the GoRide and GoCar services by using the code KARYABANGSA.

Meanwhile, GoSend has collaborated with Tokopedia to provide free delivery of up to Rp 20,000 by using the code GOSEND during checkout for deliveries using GoSend Instant and GoSend Sameday. The promo can be used to shop locally made products, ranging from food and beverages, beauty products, to household needs.

For foodies, GoFood’s participation is highlighted in the National Culinary Day (HarKulNas) promo, where users can savor culinary delights from their hometown by local MSMEs to cure their homesickness. GoFood offers a discount of up to Rp 110,000 as a token of appreciation for its customers as well as to increase the visibility and daily sales of MSME partners.

At the same time, GoMart is offering a 60 percent discount voucher using the BERKAH60 code on top of a free delivery fee up to Rp 15,000 and a discount of up to 80 percent in a flash sale.

Gojek’s own e-wallet GoPay is also part of the celebrations with cashbacks up to Rp 55,000 for payments made using GoPay in online business partner websites and apps. GoPay users can also redeem a cashback voucher worth up to Rp 25,000 by redeeming the BANGGAINDONESIA code in the Promo page of the Gojek app.

Kevin said that Gojek’s participation in the Hari BBI 2021 program is meant to support local businesses to grow through digital platforms, along with encouraging Indonesians to support the economy by shopping locally.

“Gojek hopes that the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia campaign will encourage communal efforts in strengthening their digital penetration in developing domestic businesses, alongside encouraging the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy,” he concluded.
