GoTo Group, Indonesia's largest digital ecosystem that includes Gojek, Tokopedia and GoTo Financial (GTF), has organized the 2022 Konferensi Maju Digital (KoMD), aiming to upskill Indonesian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Entering its second year, the 2022 KoMD follows the success of the first KoMD event in 2021, which attracted tens of thousands of MSME players among its participants.

Carrying the theme of Digital and Environmentally Friendly Business Transformation in line with the Indonesian government's mission in the Group of 20 (G20) presidency, the 2022 KoMD aims to support MSME growth and competitiveness.

A number of experts from various fields were on hand at the 2022 KoMD to share their experiences, participate in discussions and provide training in a series of classes for MSMEs to grow their business by utilizing digital technology.

This year’s conference took place offline at The Kasablanka Hall in Kota Kasablanka, South Jakarta, on Oct. 27. The event was also accessible online via the Tokopedia Academy website, the Mitra Usaha Gojek and Tokopedia Seller YouTube channels, Tokopedia PLAY and GoPlay.

The event was opened by GoTo Group CEO Andre Soelistyo, followed by a talk show with Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry Expert Ministerial Staff for Productivity and Competitiveness Eddy Satriya and head of the Financial Services Authority’s Digital Financial Innovation Group (IKD) Triyono Gani.

GoTo Group's chief of corporate affairs Nila Marita noted that with more than 15 million business partners, 2.6 million driver partners and 67 million annual users, the GoTo Group digital ecosystem contributes around 2 percent to Indonesia's GDP.

“The large economic impact is directly linked to the role of MSMEs as the driving force for the Indonesian economy as well as the national economic recovery. GoTo Group organized KoMD to support the growth of MSME partners through a series of education and sustainable-empowerment programs," she said.

According to Gojek and GoTo Financial Group head of merchant marketing Bayu Ramadhan, KoMD is the largest national MSME conference from the GoTo Group. It aims to help Indonesian MSMEs to adapt to the development of today's business landscape via various technological initiatives and solutions.

“KoMD 2022 is motivated by the high interest of participants in the 2021 KoMD series. More than 14,000 participated in the 2021 KoMD series, with the majority coming from Greater Jakarta; Surabaya, [East Java]; Medan, [North Sumatra]; Makassar, [South Sulawesi]; and Manado, [North Sulawesi]," he added.

Overall, the 2022 KoMD was attended by more than 50,000 offline and online participants.

Tokopedia VP of seller experience Puput Hidayat said that continuing the momentum of the 2021 KoMD, GoTo Group has routinely held the Kelas Maju Digital (KeMD) throughout 2021.

Through KeMD, GoTo Group provides material related to business development and entrepreneurial competence to promote Indonesian MSMEs as the top consumer choice. KeMD is implemented through the collaboration of the GoTo Group with local governments and MSMEs to help local economic recovery.

The 2021 KeMD has been held in various regions, such as Surakarta, Central Java; Surabaya; Bandung, West Java; Semarang, Central Java; Medan; and the Greater Jakarta area.

"This year, KeMD 2022 presented a range of topics in line with the needs of MSMEs, including social media for business, financial management and the transition to environmentally friendly businesses. Many local business owners, including the owners of KEM Footwear, Buttonscarves, SukkhaCitta, Teguk and Wakacao attended as panelists and shared their inspiration," Puput added.

Along with KoMD and KeMD, business owners across Indonesia can also gain insight from fellow MSMEs through the GoFood Partner Community (KOMPAG), the Tokopedia Family (K-Top) and the GoTo Financial Retail Community (KONTAG). GoTo Group recorded more than 80,000 MSMEs who have joined KOMPAG, K-Top and KONTAG in the last year.

KoMD and KeMD are part of GoTo Group’s efforts to empower MSMEs that have joined their ecosystem as business partners. GoTo Group also provides holistic and diverse digital-service solutions to help business owners, especially MSMEs, to create opportunities in every phase of their growth.

Jakarta-based perfume brand HMNS and restaurant Nasi Bogana Ny. An Lay are two examples of MSMEs that have benefited from the GoTo Group ecosystem and its holistic and diverse solutions.

HMNS CEO and founder Rizky Arief Dwi said that after three years of joining the GoTo Group ecosystem through Tokopedia, HMNS has benefited greatly from the decision.

“Among other things, we were able to expand our product range to Papua, growing our revenues by 20 to 30 times. This motivates us to continue realizing the dream of HMNS, to make Indonesia known as a country home to high-quality perfume producers and not just as a source of raw perfume materials,” he said.

Evan Petra, the owner of Nasi Bogana Ny. An Lay, acknowledged that access to technology platforms is very important for MSMEs to grow their businesses in the digital era.

"The GoBiz apps and Moka from Gojek and GoTo Financial really helped us in terms of business operations, especially in minimizing errors in managing customer orders. Joining GoFood also helped us connect with a larger customer base. Now our turnover has quadrupled since 2020. We appreciate the services provided by the GoTo Group, which has been a very important part in our business to date," he said.
