AKARTA: The police say that a 33-year-old divorced father has confessed to killing his 4-year-old daughter in Ciracas, East Jakarta.

The man, identified as Iwan Reza Pahlevi, used a sickle to kill his daughter, Kaisa Ivana, in a bedroom, according to police. The girl had been visiting her grandmother to celebrate Idul Fitri.

“We seized the sickle, a sarong and the sheet as evidence,” Baryadi, a police officer from the Ciracas precinct, said on Sunday.

Ivan and his wife, Nurbaeti, 29, are divorced. His mother, Siti Fatonah, had picked up her granddaughter for the visit.

Kaisa suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck.

“Ivan told his mother that he killed his daughter,” Baryadi said.

Kaisa’s body was brought to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta for an autopsy.
