Lion Air chaos affects AirAsia at Soekarno-Hatta

haos at the country'€™s main gateway, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, due to hundreds of stranded Lion Air passengers, affected the operations of another domestic low-cost carrier, Indonesia AirAsia, on Friday morning.

Indonesia AirAsia spokesperson Audrey Progastama Petriny said that its flights, both domestic and international, were delayed by up to 2.5 hours.

Audrey said its Jakarta'€“Yogyakarta flight was delayed by 158 minutes while its Jakarta'€“ Denpasar and Jakarta'€“Surabaya services were delayed by 130 minutes and 90 minutes, respectively.

'€œOur flights to Singapore and Bangkok were also delayed this morning,'€ she said, adding that its sister company Malaysia AirAsia'€™s route from Jakarta'€“Kuala Lumpur was also late by 55 minutes.

'€œWe have prepared a check-in counter at Terminal 2E and announced notifications to our passengers to arrive earlier at the airport,'€ she explained.

Hundreds of Lion Air passengers have been stranded at Soekarno-Hatta since Wednesday evening due to the carrier'۪s numerous flight delays. '۬

The delays occurred on crucial routes such as those to Denpasar, Bali; Batam, Riau Islands; Palembang, South Sumatra; and Jambi and Medan, North Sumatra. (***)
