ndonesia’s David Agung Susanto has been drawn to face Sri Lanka’s Harshana Godamanna in the opening match of relegation play-offs for Davis Cup Group II Asia/Oceania in Surakarta, Central Java, on Friday.
Indonesia was forced into relegation play-offs following to a loss to Vietnam 3-2 in the first round of Group II Asia/Oceania in March. The winner in the play-offs will remain in Group II, while the loser will be relegated to Group III.
Carrying the burden, world number 923 David is optimistic of victory.
“Godamanna is good player, and he has played quite often in the Davis Cup. But I am sure, as I am prepared, that I will be able to handle him in the opener,” Davis said in a press release.
The 24-year-old also plans to notch up further victories of his personal participation in international events.
In the second match, Indonesian number-one Christopher Rungkat will take on Yasitha De Silva.
In a doubles match on Saturday, Aditya Hari Sasongko and Sunu Wahyu Trijati for the hosts are set to face Godamanna and De Silva. In the last day on Sunday, Christopher will square up against Godamanna, while David will face De Silva.
