he City Council has demanded the acceleration of low-cost subsidized apartment projects from the city’s housing and government building agency, which has booked low budget absorption halfway through the year.
Proposing more than Rp 4 trillion (US$304.53 million), the agency plans to build 20,000 apartments this year. However, as of today, it has absorbed just 3.47 percent of the budget within the first six months of the year.
A member of the council’s Commission D, Bestari Barus, asked the Agency to finish the bidding process on the projects so that it could fulfill housing needs in the capital.
“Lots of people need the apartments. You can directly meet the governor and tell him that you need his permission to build the apartments as long as you don’t break the rules,” Bastari told Arifin, the Agency’s head, during a meeting at the City Council on Wednesday.
