A

man was killed during a fire, allegedly caused by leaking gas, which razed a house, a car wash center and two cars in Rawa Terate, Cakung, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.

An official from East Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Agency, Gatot Sulaiman, said the incident occurred at around 8 a.m.

Gatot said he sent 18 fire trucks after receiving a report of the fire.

“We arrived 15 minutes later and the fire was extinguished in one hour,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Gatot said the accident claimed one life, identified as Kahar. “We found his remains after the fire was extinguished,” he said.

He added that the cause of the fire was leaking gas as the fire fighters found an exploded LPG canister behind the car wash center. —
