P

olice have terminated their investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a child by a driver in West Jakarta after the parents of the child declined to file a report.

Head of Jakarta Police’s crime and violence division Corm. Buddy Towoliuw said on Wednesday night that the child’s father visited his office to inform him that he would not be filing a report.

“The parents asked their daughter and the daughter refused to make a report on the case,” said Buddy on Thursday as reported by tribunnews.com

The family’s driver allegedly took a photograph of the teenager’s crotch, who was sitting on the backseat with her legs spread while the car was on a congested road in West Jakarta. A motorist recorded the activity and posted the video on Whatsapp, which later went viral.

The parents told the police her daughter was too ashamed to officially report the incident, said Buddy, adding that the police had confiscated three photographs from the driver.

“From the video record that has been spread through social media, the man only took three photographs,” said Buddy, adding that the case is now closed. (bbn)
