he Bandung municipal administration in West Java will need at least Rp 60 trillion (US$4.6 billion) to finance the development of infrastructure facilities in the city, which has now turned into one of the country’s tourist destinations.
The city’s mayor, Ridwan Kamil, said the local government would invite private sector companies to support the projects under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. Among the potential projects to be executed under this partnership are the construction of overpasses and other public facilities, including video surveillance.
"The city's budget is very limited so we need to invite investors to finance and build the projects,” he said during Lintas Teknologi Solution Day event in Jakarta on Thursday.
The city, he added, has made efforts to streamline procedures to obtain business licenses and other paperwork to help the private sector invest in the city. (hwa)
