oll road operators Jasa Marga and Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada (CMNP) are cooperating with several state lenders to increase e-cash payments at toll gates in Greater Jakarta to achieve the government’s target to fully implement electronic transactions by 2018.
The state lenders include Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).
E-cash payments can currently be made at six toll road sections in Jakarta, including toll roads in Halim, Cililitan, Kapuk, Cengkareng, as well as two toll gates in Tanjung Priok until the end of November.
Jasa Marga and CMNP expect similar services to be available at all other toll roads in Jakarta starting in December.
“This is our move to accelerate [ penetration], aligning with the national cashless movement by Bank Indonesia as well,” Jasa Marga first operational director Muh Najib Fauzan said on Thursday.
The company saw e-cash transaction penetration limited to 22.9 percent at the national level and 30 percent for Greater Jakarta as of October.
The firm expects penetration to hit 50 percent in December, as they will also increase unmanned toll gates by the end of the year.(dmr)
