akarta deputy gubernatorial candidate Sylviana Murni is facing new corruption allegations, this time related to a social aid program.
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department’s (Bareskrim) anticorruption deputy director, Sr. Comr. Erwanto Kurniadi, said on Wednesday that the department had summoned Sylviana for questioning on Friday.
“Yes, that’s true,” Erwanto said as quoted by kompas.com.
Bareskrim issued the summons to Sylviana on Wednesday. The letter stated the former Jakarta governor’s assistant for culture and tourism would be questioned as a witness in a social aid corruption case in relation to the Jakarta Scout Movement in 2014 and 2015.
“For investigation purposes, [you] are expected to come by and bring related documents for questioning,” the summons says.
Sylviana, who is the running mate of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in the February Jakarta gubernatorial election, is also being investigated in relation to a corruption case pertaining to the construction of Al Fauz Mosque, which was inaugurated in 2011 during Sylviana’s tenure as Central Jakarta mayor.
