he City Council has asked the Jakarta administration to finish the revision of two draft bylaws on traditional markets as soon as possible, emphasizing that the bylaws are necessary for market revitalization.
Bestari Barus, a bylaw committee member on the council, said the committee expected to discuss the drafts with city-owned PD Pasar Jaya and the Pasar Jaya business development department in the near future.
"We will send an official letter demanding that both drafts be submitted soon so that we can schedule the discussion," he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said the drafts were important because traditional markets in Jakarta were going to be revitalized into integrated markets.
"Until today, we have no legal framework regulating PD Pasar Jaya business development," Bestari said. (idb)
