rivate lender Bank Central Asia saw a 14.4 percent increase in net profit last year from the same period in 2015, reaching Rp 20.6 trillion (US$1.5 billion).
The increase was supported by a 12 percent surge in its net interest income and a 13.2 percent rise in other operational income, to Rp 40.2 trillion and Rp 13.6 trillion, respectively.
"BCA's 2016 performance was achieved through several initiatives in utilizing business opportunities and continuing efforts to optimize operational efficiency," BCA president director Jahja Setiaatmadja told a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

BCA disbursed Rp 416 trillion in loans last year, up 7.3 percent from the same period in 2015. Its third-party funds increased 11.9 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp 530.1 trillion.
"The tax amnesty also contributed to our CASA [current account and saving accounts] increase," Jahja said.
As much as Rp 58 trillion in repatriated funds from the amnesty entered the bank as of December last year. Of the figure, only Rp 11 trillion stayed in the bank's saving accounts. (bbn)
