est Jakarta Police personnel arrested the Pegadungan subdistrict head in his office in Kalideres, West Jakarta, after he was allegedly caught red-handed receiving an illegal levy from a resident on Thursday, a police officer said.
Precinct chief Sr. Comr. Roycke Harrie Langie said subdistrict head Jufri received Rp 2.5 million (US$187) from a resident for land registration.
“We arrested him when he signed the document,” Roycke said on Friday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
Roycke added that Jufri had asked the resident to give him Rp 10 million to ease the process of registration, but the resident was only able to give him Rp 2.5 million, which the subdistrict head eventually accepted.
According to the report, police seized the resident’s girik (customary land ownership) document and the recommendation letter regarding the girik that was signed by Jufri at the time of his arrest. (kkk)
