n a bid to ease its auditors' supervision of city institutions, the Jakarta Inspectorate has introduced an electronic auditing system (e-audit) at City Hall on Thursday.

Under the new system, the city's working units are required to upload the requested documents via its website (http://inspektorat.jakarta.go.id/), which is intended to improve the efficacy and efficiency of both institutions.

Jakarta Inspectorate head Zainal said he needed all working units to support the implementation of the new system to ease their jobs in the digital era.

“Without the cooperation of every working unit in uploading their documents, the new system will not work,” Zainal told all working unit heads, adding that the system would become effective in 2018.

The inspectorate also launched its "whistle-blowing" system, to make it easier for the capital's residents to report any illegal fees they encountered. Anyone who discovered city officials imposing illegal fees and praciticing  other forms of corruption could upload documents such as photos or multimedia recordings as evidence through the website.
