P

olice have rounded up three teenagers allegedly involved in vandalizing a helicopter monument with spray paint at a playground in the vicinity of the Atang Sendjaja airbase in Bogor, West Java on Tuesday morning.

The teenagers apparently recorded their act and posted it on Instagram.

Atang Sendjaja airbase spokesman Maj. David Rumaya said the teenagers, who shall be referred to as A, DO and DM, were arrested in the nearby city of Depok, also in West Java.

“We’ve tracked their posts on Instagram and Facebook in order to find their addresses. The suspects have been submitted to the Kemang police subprecinct for further questioning,” David was quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.

According to their statements, the act of vandalism was inspired by similar acts they watched on Youtube.

“Probably, they [did] it for their own satisfaction by showing off to other people that they could do similar stunts,” David added.

In the video footage circulated on social media, a boy is seen climbing onto a fence to approach the helicopter monument and spray-painting the body of the monument. (dmr)
