inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has ordered top echelon officials to monitor usage of all rooms and spaces at the ministry’s headquarters in an effort to fight graft following the recent naming of its official a suspect in an alleged bribery case.

Sri Mulyani responded to the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) naming of Finance Ministry official Yaya Purnomo a suspect on Saturday, alongside House of Representatives member and Democratic Party politician Amin Santono, who is suspected of receiving bribes in connection with the allocation of funds for regional administrations in the 2018 state budget.

“I’ve also heard that there is a room at the Finance Ministry’s headquarters that is used by some individuals to receive visitors from regional administrations. It is used as a place to make [illegal] deals on the state budget,” she said in a press conference on Monday as quoted by tempo.co

Sri Mulyani said she had ordered the Finance Ministry’s secretary-general Hadiyanto and officials from the inspectorate general to conduct an evaluation of all rooms and spaces in the ministry and tighten security controls at each gate of the compound.
