akarta Governor Anies Baswedan has expressed compassion for those affected by a 7.0- magnitude earthquake in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday evening and has urged Jakartans to help the victims.
He said the administration would offer assistance for victims through the Jakarta Muslim Charitable Board (Bazis).
"I urge Jakarta residents to send donations for our [brothers and sisters] in Lombok through available options. This is a time for us to show solidarity. Hopefully, they will have the strength to recover quickly," he said on Monday.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, 91 people had been reported dead and 209 injured, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). Survivors have moved to shelters with little in their hands, as their homes were severely damaged or destroyed in the earthquake. (fac)
