Greater Jakarta: Jakarta records low budget expenditure

C

ity secretary Mohammad Saefullah stated that the administration had used only 67.65 percent of its Rp 75 trillion (US$5.17 million) 2018 budget, a low figure that concerns many as the year is nearing its end.

With only two weeks left in 2018, the city had spent only Rp 50.7 trillion of the whole budget.

However, Saefullah showed optimism that this year’s spending could exceed that of the previous year, which was recorded at 83.83 percent, as reported by antara.com, as some contractors had yet to claim their project payments.

“We are currently receiving bills from the contractors, which include school rehabilitation projects and other development projects. We are sure the expenditures will exceed last year’s spending,” Saefullah said at City Hall on Monday, as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

He said the city’s 2018 budget expenditure would see a change in the next two days.

“This week is the determining week. We also still have a few days left before the year ends,” Saefullah said.
