epok Police said an officer of the elite counterterrorism squad Densus 88, Brig. Matheus, whose dead body was found in Mutiara Cemetery in Depok, West Java on Dec. 31, had committed suicide.

“Brig. Matheus killed himself. The bullet had damaged his upper brain tissue, which led to his death,” Depok Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Didik Sugiarto said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.

Matheus’ official firearm, which police identified as a Sig Sauer, was found next to his body, according to Depok Police chief Didik Sugiarto. He added that gunshot residue was found on Matheus’ hands.

The police also revealed that none of Matheus’ belongings were missing. His motorcycle, two phones and wallet were found next to his body at the scene.
