span>Singer Shanty Paredes celebrated her milestone 40th birthday with a star-studded concert on Friday at Live Space Lot 8 SCBD in South Jakarta.
Titled “Heels Forty”, Shanty appeared on stage singing her greatest hits, including “Oh, Kasih” (Oh, Dear) and “Jatuh Cinta” (Falling in Love), while dancing the night away.
The concert also featured local musicians, such as Melly Goeslaw, the singer’s longtime duet partner Marcel Siahaan, 1990s boy band M.E and music director Dandy Lasahido.
Shanty said she thought of creating a special event for her 40th birthday two years ago.
“Instead of parties, [I] wanted a special event [related to] my works,” Shanty told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
The preparation for “Heels Forty” started in September. However, as she lives in Hong Kong, she had to prepare from afar.
“It was not an easy task,” she said, explaining that all dance teams involved had to learn their choreography through video.
When asked about her new age, she replied, “I feel that once a woman reaches 40, she has a different way of thinking and can become the captain of her life and family.
“I feel calmer and don’t seek justification from others anymore.
