Kirubasankar’s ton gets Metro Indians off to winning start

The season’s first 100 was the highlight of this weekend’s action at the Advanced Offshore JCA League as Kirubasankar got his and his team’s season off to a great start.

The Jakarta Barbarians won the toss and chose to bat first against the Metro Indians in their 40 overs game on Sunday. Aditya Khurana and Kiran Mandhare bowled really well to have the Jakarta Barbarians in a lot of strife at 26 for three. But the Jakarta Barbarians’ latest recruit, Agi Saptiazi, batted very sensibly to put on a 97 runs stand with Mohib Hussaini. Vivek Singh then provided some late acceleration and the Metro Indians also contributed to the Jakarta Barbarians’ final total of 182 in the form of extras.

The Metro Indians’ reply followed a similar start sequence with Vivek Nair knocking off the top order early and Metro was also at 26 for three. These early signs of hope for the Jakarta Barbarians were short-lived, however, with Kirubasankar initially showing restraint in building a solid partnership with Ahmad Nur Arif but later exploded to hit an unbeaten 117 of just 64 balls to rocket his team past the target with 15 overs and seven wickets in hand.

The Indorama CC chose to bat first in their 40 overs game against the BLPL Mavecrics played at the Purwakarta cricket ground on Sunday. Four of the Indorama batsmen reached 20s but could not push on for bigger scores in the face of some good bowling, especially by Satish Rani and eventually could only manage 165 in their 40 overs.

Keyur Moradia got the Mavecrics off to a good start in their reply. Ajay Kumar led a brief fightback for the Indorama with a three-wicket haul, but Padmakar Surve’s counter-attacking 50 ensured that the BLPL Mavecrics got home with four wickets and 10 overs in hand.
