he Health Ministry announced 8,854 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 788,402.

According to data released by the ministry, 187 more people have died of the disease, bringing Wednesday's death toll to 23,296.

The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 652,513.

The ministry reported that 44,734 people were tested on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people tested to 5,106,017.

The capital city Jakarta recorded 2,402 new confirmed cases, bringing the total tally to 195,301. Meanwhile, West Java reported 1,470 new cases, Central Java 1,023, East Java 845, South Sulawesi 463, and East Kalimantan 375.

The virus has spread to all of the country's 34 provinces. (kmt/kuk)
