The Health Ministry announced 687 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 24,538.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the ministry’s disease control and prevention director general, Achmad Yurianto, added that 23 more people had died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 1,496.
The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 6,240.
The capital city recorded 105 new confirmed cases, bringing the total tally to 7,001. Meanwhile, East Java reported 171 new cases, South Kalimantan 116, South Sulawesi 46 and North Sumatra 30.
The virus has spread to all of the country's 34 provinces. (dfr/mfp)
