T

he Haj Organizing Agency (BP Haji) will soon review the reduction of travel time in Saudi Arabia for pilgrims from 40 days to 30 days starting next year.

“BP Haji will review the staying period for Indonesian haj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia [which will] be shortened to 30 days,” agency director for domestic haj services Puji Raharjo said during a working visit in Padang, West Sumatra, on Saturday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said efficiency for the travel period could be achieved by rearranging the departure and arrival frequencies of haj pilgrims. However, this measure must consider the readiness of haj dormitories and the logistics of embarkation points.

The agency also emphasized the importance of collaboration in organizing the haj in 2026 to improve efficiency. Especially as the agency, led by Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, would fully organize the pilgrimage in 2026. Meanwhile, cooperation with regional administrations and the Religious Affairs Ministry would continue.

“Organizing haj must be done in collaboration with regional administrations and the Religious Affairs Ministry because the pilgrimage is a national event and a government event,” said Puji.

During a visit to Padang Haj Dormitory, Puji considered the conditions of the facilities to be sufficient but said the capacity must be increased, especially in serving haj pilgrims.
