Shandong Heavy Industry: Weichai Power conference and Jakarta exhibition

O

n Monday and Tuesday, Shandong Heavy Industry hosted its Third Global Partner Conference and Southeast Asia New Product Exhibition at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, drawing over 1,000 attendees from Southeast Asia, East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Chosen for its three-decade-long significance as a key market, Jakarta served as the event's third stop, following successful gatherings in Central Asia and the Middle East. The conference's objectives encompassed exploring international collaboration, establishing a new regional framework for mutual benefit and identifying further development opportunities.

Tan Xuguang, chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group and Weichai Power, delivered a keynote speech, underscoring the company's pivotal role in the global industrial equipment sector, boasting annual sales of US$72 billion. Displayed at the exhibition were prominent brands such as Weichai Power, Zhongtong, Shantui and more.

The success of Shandong Heavy Industry's products was attributed to its proprietary powertrain system and highly efficient technology, with a focus on fuel-saving systems for industrial vehicles. Headquartered in Jinan, China, the company, exporting to over 150 countries, is working on localizing production based on customer demand globally.

Shandong Heavy Industry leads in technology and sales across heavy engines, transmissions, trucks, forklifts and luxury yachts, achieving significant sales milestones in engines and heavy trucks over the past five years.

Chairman Tan outlined four commitments to building strong partnerships, emphasizing value provision, high-value product production, timely service and delivering safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly technologies to customers.

During the product introduction, the company highlighted specific brand advantages, such as Sinotruk trucks featuring airbags and voice assistants for safety and navigation, reducing accidents by up to 80 percent. Jakarta held special significance for Mr. Tan, marking the place where his international trade career commenced 33 years ago, and he expressed his hope that customers worldwide, including in Indonesia, would benefit from Shandong Heavy Industry's commitments.
