ererenan Beach is considered by locals and visitors as one of Bali’s best surfing destinations. But despite its proximity to the sophisticated Seminyak, Pererenan has a more rural Balinese atmosphere with charming, rustic eateries dotting the area.
One of them is Shelter in Pererenan, the brainchild of the Shelter Group behind the famous Shelter Café in Seminyak. Shelter in Pererenan offers gastronomical creations inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine by merging both region’s spices, smoky flavors and legendary recipes.
The project is headed by British-born chef Stephen Moore, whose career has brought him to Barcelona (at a three Michelin-starred restaurant), India and Sri Lanka. After 10 years in Bali, he is ready to lead the kitchen at Shelter.
Stephen elevates the taste of ethically sourced ingredients by using the most ancient of techniques, cooking over an open fire. Wood-fired ovens and open charcoal grills produce culinary marvels such as Chermoula crusted chicken and duck leg with harissa, dates and risoni.
Shelter’s Balinese-style joglo, built from stone and recycled timber and harmoniously adorned with exotic plants, provides a laid-back atmosphere with a refreshing touch of nature. For reservations, chat via WhatsApp at +6281353681118 or visit shelterbali.com/
