PBB endorses Prabowo for president
In a speech endorsing Prabowo's candidacy, PBB chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra called on other political parties to follow suit in supporting the former lieutenant general.

The Islam-based Crescent and Star Party (PBB) endorsed the presidential bid of Gerindra Party chairman and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto over the weekend at a party anniversary event in Banten.
In a speech endorsing Prabowo's candidacy, PBB chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra called on other political parties to follow suit in supporting the former lieutenant general.
Yusril said that although Prabowo had lost the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, he was optimistic that the senior Gerindra politician could come out on top in 2024, especially with the support of the PBB.
“I call on other political parties, especially those that haven't given their endorsement to Prabowo, to come together and support his bid," Yusril said, as quoted by Antara.
Yusril, who was once a speechwriter for former president Soeharto, said the PBB had a long history of backing underdogs as presidential candidates.
The PBB was the sole partner of the Democratic Party when it nominated Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jusuf Kalla on its presidential ticket in 2004.
"They were the underdogs, the ticket that wouldn't win. We promoted them in the campaign and gatherings, and after two rounds, they won," Yusril said.
