Muhaimin pledges to eradicate illegal online payday loans, gambling
Vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar pledged to eradicate illegal online loans and gambling. He also conveyed the importance of providing cheap public facilities.

Vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar pledged on Monday to immediately eradicate illegal online payday loans and online gambling if he and presidential candidate Anies Baswedan are elected in the 2024 presidential election.
"If Anies and I win, after getting sworn in in the morning, we will immediately eradicate all illegal online loans and online gambling by the afternoon. This online gambling is extraordinary since people are lured by false hope," said Muhaimin while campaigning before female Islamic study groups in Bekasi, West Java, as quoted by kompas.com.
Muhaimin claims that he fully understands the problem of online loans and gambling.
"Why do [online loans and gambling] happen? Because it's hard to find work, it's hard to find loans. After all, the loans are not for entertainment, they are for business, but it's hard [to get them],” he said.
He added that he and Anies will provide the public with regular, legal loans if elected. “Nowadays, online gambling and online loans cannot be eradicated except by the president and vice president," he added.
Besides eradicating illegal payday loans, Muhaimin also promised to make healthcare and transportation cheaper to increase people’s purchasing power.
"The government's job is to provide facilities so people have productive jobs and savings,” he emphasized, as quoted by the detik.com news portal.
