Vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD promised that he and running mate Ganjar Pranowo would eradicate poverty by fighting corruption and providing education to low-income families.
Vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD said on Sunday that he and running mate Ganjar Pranowo would continue to fight against poverty in Indonesia, during a rally at Temenggung Abdul Jamal Stadium in Batam, Riau Islands.
Mahfud believes that punishing corrupters is key to improving the welfare of all Indonesians. Therefore, he encouraged everyone to join the fight against corruption.
Once corruption is eradicated, the government can focus on improving the quality of life.
Mahfud also believes that education plays a crucial role in the fight against poverty, pointing out that people face extreme poverty because of a lack of education.
He noted that coming from a lower economic class, these individuals lack the skills and financial means to send their children to school.
As such, he and Ganjar would allocate money for the education of low-income families so their children can access higher education.
"From every poor family, a family member will be selected to receive education up to the university level," Mahfud said, as quoted by the Antara news agency.
