T

he Golkar Party is considering endorsing actor, singer and entrepreneur Raffi Ahmad for the Central Java election, pairing him with the party politician and incumbent Kendal regent Dico M. Ganinduto in the gubernatorial race.

Speculations that Golkar would pair Dico with Raffi in the upcoming regional election, slated for Nov. 27, surfaced after photos of the pair wearing white shirts and shaking hands went viral on social media.

But Golkar chair Airlangga Hartarto said the party was still awaiting the results of an internal survey, to be conducted from May to July, before making any decision regarding the pair.

“If the [survey] results are good, we may endorse them. But if they’re not, we may withdraw the plan,” Airlangga told reporters at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He added that Golkar had issued a letter instructing Dico to run in the Central Java gubernatorial election, but had yet to write one for Raffi.
