ndonesian audiences who devotedly follow Australian Idol may have not heard about Guy Sebastian, the first winner of the singing contest in 2003, for quite sometime.

Apparently the singer, who turned 36 on Thursday, has been busy preparing his new album slated to be released on Nov. 3 and taking care of his two children from his marriage with Jules Egan.

During the celebrations of AirAsia X’s 10th anniversary at Skypoint on the Gold Coast, Australia on Thursday, Guy who was appointed as the carrier’s ambassador in Australia in 2016, was asked about the highlight of his singing career.

Many people would have expected that the answer would definitely be Australian Idol, which brought him to fame. However, his answer was the moment he lost a record deal 10 years ago.

“I was in a vulnerable position in my career. But things started to turn around. I did lose my record deal, but I ended up recording a lot more music,” he said.

He added another highlight of his career was when his song "Battle Scars," which was released in 2011, went platinum in the United States.

“It’s something that has always been a dream of mine,” said the former X Factor judge. (kes)
