nline fashion retailer Zalora has launched a visual search engine on its app. This feature allows customers to find the outfits they are looking for based on an image.
Once users press the “search” section, they can choose to either jot down a particular type or brand, or simply press the camera button above the page to use the feature. Customers can choose the image source, either from a from gallery or camera roll. The feature also can be used to search for accessories and shoes.

Zalora has collaborated with ViSenze, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company for this feature. The company also has an office in Singapore.
“In the year-end shopping season, we understand the difficulty of describing clothing or shoes on the text-based search engine,” said Karthik Subramanian, chief technology officer of Zalora Group, in a press release. “We want to give our customers joy in shopping by just taking a photo of any fashion objects that grab their attention.”
The feature is available on the app for both iOS and Android. (asw)
