There is nothing better than homemade dishes made with passion, and Indonesia has a huge variety of them.
To celebrate and acknowledge the diversity of Indonesia’s homemade dishes and the passionate amateur cooks behind them, e-commerce platform Lazada conducted a digital hunt on social media from Sept. 16 to Oct. 6.
In its fourth iteration, the theme of this year's cooking competition was Masak Bersama Sahabat (Cooking with a Friend) to acknowledge the achievements of talented home cooks and their friends as well as exploring the dishes they love to make together.
In addition, the concept of traveling with a companion has also inspired this year’s theme.
“We see an increasing trend where people love to travel with their friends, that’s why our first prize is a three days and two nights vacation to Labuan Bajo,” Lazada Indonesia's category director of general merchandise, Evelyn Yonathan, said.
During the hunt period, Lazada scoured for submissions from amateur home cooks all across Indonesia and finally selected 10 pairs to compete in the Dapur Lazada cooking competition from Oct. 14 to 17. The contestants were chosen in pairs in line with the competition’s theme for this year.
The pairs, who were selected from a total of 320 registrants, served a variety of homemade dishes, including international cuisine such as baked spices mayonnaise tilapia bread and lemon butter chicken with sautéed vegetables, as well as traditional fare such as sambalado cangkuak (spicy vegetable soup) and penyet meatballs.
