Formed in 1976, Black Flag is viewed as one of the first hardcore bands in the United States. The band split in 1986 and reunited in 2003 and 2013, with guitar player and main songwriter Greg Ginn as the only remaining original member of the band.

To date, the band has released seven studio albums and two live albums.

Black Flag is the second international group confirmed to play at Hammersonic after American metal band Slipknot.
