inikino, a short film festival organizer based in Bali, is holding the Youth Jury Online Camp training program from July 20 to 24.

The five-day training program is for the young participants who will be part of the Youth Jury Board of the Minikino Film Week (MFW) 6 international film festival in September. Generally held as a physical event, this year's Youth Jury Camp has gone online to observe physical distancing.

The participants of the Youth Jury Online Camp were selected by the MFW committee as well as former youth jury members Stella Melody Winata, Qiu Mattane Lao, Kayla Amare Budiwarman, Seika Cintanya Sanger and Sophie Louisa.

MFW program director Fransiska Prihadi said that the Youth Jury Online Camp did not hold a public registration, unlike the 2019 Youth Jury Camp. The immersive training program was held over three days in person, which was impossible this year because of the COVID-19 health crisis.

“Our solution is to hold an online film literacy training for the intermediate level, where the participants are experienced and have the basics,” Fransiska said in a statement.

The participants will watch five to six short films selected by the MFW 6 program team for each day during the online camp. They will then discuss the films in a video conference with their respective mentors: Fransiska, subtitler Inez Peringga, Gender, Sexuality and Human Rights Studies (GSHR) chair Udayana Rickdy Vanduwin, visual designer Saffira Nusa Dewi and MFW festival director Edo Wulia.

“The participants are encouraged to watch the films and give voice to their opinions about the films,” said Fransiska.

At the end of the camp, the jurors will nominate three short films for the MFW 6 Youth Jury Award.

The Youth Jury Online Camp also has a public component offering webinars on Minikino's YouTube channel on July 21, 22 and 23 at 3 p.m. Central Indonesia Time.
