Febi, Prima to meet in Cigna quarters

JAKARTA: Former Indonesian No. 1 Febi Widhiyanto, ninth seeded here, will face defending champion Prima Simpatiaji in the quarterfinals of the men's singles at the Cigna Open tennis tournament.

Febi made the quarters by romping to an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over fifth seeded junior Andery Setyawanto.

Prima thrashed Sandy Purnomo 6-1, 6-1.

Febi hopes to avenge losses to Prima in their last two meetings, at last year's Cigna Open and the Jakarta Governor's Cup.

In the women's singles, defending champ Liza Andriyani fell to Lutfiana Aris Budhiarto 6-2, 6-4.

Third seed Lavinia Tananta survived a scare against junior Grace Sari Ysidora, pulling out a tough 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory.

Lavinia will play Beatrice Gumulya, who beat Karyn Emeralda 6-2, 6-2, in the quarterfinals on Friday. --JP
