The Prime Steakhouse at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta at Mega Kuningan is promoting a taste of Europe in the month of May.
Chef Frank Koppelkamm has put together unique lunch and dinner menus, which are available at the steakhouse from May 12-31.
"This is the first time we have had a European food promo. We imported most of the ingredients for this special menu," said sous chef Dodiek Triwandaya.
"I used to live in Europe, so I don't find preparing European food tricky."
The must-try item, said Dodiek, is the French dish Squab Pigeon with Mushroom Crust and Truffle Jus. In Indonesia, many restaurants offer dark pigeon meat, but not white pigeon meat, according to the chef.
"The pigeon is imported from France."
The steakhouse has also created a Spanish dish especially for the promo: Paella Valencia with Prawns and Chicken. "This is similar to fried rice, but we add saffron and seafood. It's a relatively straightforward dish to prepare."
Other dishes on the menu are Roasted Veal Knuckle, Spatzle and Root Vegetables from Germany; Ossobuco alla Milanese from Italy; Cold Poached Salmon, Lemon Mayonnaise and Watercress Salad from England; Wiener Schitzel with Potato Cucumber Salad from Austria; and Beef Carbonade a la Flamande from Belgium.
"For the salmon plate, we use juicy Norwegian salmon. The Beef Carbonade contains European beer Liefmans Goudenband," said Didiek.
What better way for diners to try something new than to wash their meal down with an imported beer, such as an Erdinger Weiss from Germany or Hoegarden from Belgium?
The Ritz Carlton has also changed its wine list for the promo.
