JAKARTA: Rhoma Irama, dubbed as the King of Dangdut (a local mix between Indian and pop music), finally released his new single after 10 years of hiatus
AKARTA: Rhoma Irama, dubbed as the King of Dangdut (a local mix between Indian and pop music), finally released his new single after 10 years of hiatus.
Rhoma, who just released Azza, said this was the right time for him to make a comeback to the studio.
“Creating a song means self-introspection. I get older every year, and don’t know how long I will live. So, I don’t want to waste time anymore,” Rhoma said during his single’s launching last week.
When he decided not to put out a record 10 years ago, Rhoma said it was because he was disappointed with the music piracy practice in the country.
“Music piracy really frustated me. I failed to make new songs at that time, “ the 64-year-old father of dangdut singer Ridho Rhoma said. “Recording music costs a lot of money. As a result [of piracy], I failed to meet my break event point.” — JP
