T

he National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) said on Monday that it would be looking into pilot communication with air traffic controllers in its investigation of a light aircraft that crashed on Sunday in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), Banten, killing all three people onboard.

KNKT chief Soerjanto Tjahjono added that investigators would also look into fuselage debris from the Tecnam P2006T aircraft.

The plane reportedly suffered engine trouble during bad weather on Sunday and crashed into an open field near a busy upmarket area of BSD in Serpong, South Tangerang.

The three fatalities have been identified as pilot Pulu Darmawan, copilot Suwanda and flight engineer Farid Ahmad.

"[For] the next stage of our investigation, we are still awaiting more information [...] including conversation with air traffic controllers," added Soerjanto, as quoted by Tempo.co.

The police investigation into the accident said all three men had died from severe injuries sustained during the aircraft’s impact with the ground.
