JAKARTA: Bina Nusantara (Binus) University’s English Club set a Guinness World Record for The Most People Doing Crosswords Simultaneously
AKARTA: Bina Nusantara (Binus) University’s English Club set a Guinness World Record for The Most People Doing Crosswords Simultaneously.
Five-hundred-and-fifty participants joined the crossword competition held on Feb. 21, 2010, as part of the English Club’s 6th Nationwide English Olympics.
Convenor Enricko Lukman and initiator Bryan Gunawan said the Guinness World Record certificate would be symbolically handed to Binus University at the closing ceremony of the Southeast Asian English Olympics to be held at the Pacific Place mall in Jakarta on Saturday.
“I hope this achievement motivates all of us, especially the students, to aim for more prestigious achievements in the future so they can continue to make us proud of their innovations,” Widya Yap Putri, the co-convener, said Friday.
Christy Sibuea from Binus University said the English Club decided to attempt for the record after then club president Joni Liu suggested the idea of breaking a world record by holding a scrabble competition in 2006. — JP
