JAKARTA: Conceding that spray-painting roof riders was not effective, state-owned railway company (KAI) will put up “high voltage” signs on top commuter railways to deter potential roof riders
AKARTA: Conceding that spray-painting roof riders was not effective, state-owned railway company (KAI) will put up “high voltage” signs on top commuter railways to deter potential roof riders.
“We will put the signs on the tops of train cars starting in June,” PT KAI spokesman Mateta Rizalzuhaq said as quoted by kompas.com.
Mateta added that the signs were designed to make it difficult for roof riders to climb over them.
“I hope the signs can help reduce the number of accidents from passengers riding on the rooftops,” he said.
Mateta said that the new plan had been approved by the House of Representative’s Commission V overseeing transportation.
“They told us to raise awareness among passengers about the plan,” he said.
Earlier this month, PT KAI decided to spray roof riders with non-toxic paint to discourage them from riding on train roofs. — JP
