Debates over the absence of Hollywood movies at local cinemas have gone bilateral, with Indonesia asking the US to find other importers to end the five-month Hollywood movie drought amid the summer blockbuster season.
Local importers, which have the exclusive rights to import Hollywood blockbusters, have suspended import activities since January as they settle tax cases in court involving Rp 300 billion (US$35.09 million) in royalty fees and penalties in arrears. The importers said they were never aware of such obligations.
Your comments:
I am not really sure that Beranak Dalam Kubur, Hantu Jamu Gendong and other Indonesian movies are better than Hollywood movies.
It seems our government requires additional taxes to line their own pockets.

What profit is government making anyways with this current situation? It has not earned much in tax revenue in the past five months. This has encouraged piracy in Indonesia, which also does not have any tax benefit for Indonesia.
My advice will be to get Hollywood movies back in the theaters or else we will lose out on a lot of tax revenue. We are suffering for not seeing the movies, while the government will suffer more if there are no new movies.
