pecialty chemicals company Lubrizol has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT Pertamina Lubricants to explore joint opportunities in Indonesia.
The MoU with Pertamina Lubricants, a subsidiary of state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina, was aimed at technology collaboration, market expansion and sustainability in the lubricants sector to support Indonesia’s industrial growth and environment objectives.
Lubrizol Asia Pacific vice president Henry Liu and Pertamina Lubricants president director Werry Prayogi signed the MoU on July 24 at Lubrizol’s new office in South Jakarta.
“The partnership opens the opportunities for Pertamina Lubricants to strengthen our capabilities in lubricant technology with the support of the latest formula from Lubrizol,” Werry said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
“This collaboration is also our real commitment in supporting energy transition and industrial efficiency in Indonesia.”
Meanwhile, Liu said that currently Lubrizol had supplied chemical products to about 80 partners from various sectors in Indonesia.
“Pertamina is one of our biggest partners here. Other than that, we have plenty of customers, so we believe there is a huge potential in the Indonesian market,” he said, as quoted by kontan.co.id.
Liu added that Lubrizol would eye the footwear sector because Indonesia required a lot of chemical supply, such as thermoplastic polyurethane, for footwear sole.
Lubrizol believes that there are huge needs for chemicals in various industries, including automotive and mining, he said.
Therefore, Lubrizol also aims to expand the market in these two markets, Liu added.
The MoU signing was held in conjunction with a ceremony to officiate Lubrizol’s new office as part of a strategic expansion to strengthen its commitment in the Southeast Asia region, Lubrizol said in press release.
“Indonesia reflects diversity, resilience and potential,” Liu said, as quoted by the release.
“With this office, we are reinforcing our intent to deliver tailored, science-based solutions that empower industries and improve lives. We invite local partners, industry leaders and innovators to connect and explore collaborative opportunities that drive Indonesia’s industrial future.”
Lubrizol’s new office is located at Tavera Office Park on Jl. TB Simatupang in South Jakarta.
The Jakarta office will serve as a hub for customer and industry value chain engagement, as well as technical services, enabling closer collaboration with Indonesian manufacturers, researchers and institutions.
The office opening complemented the recent launch of Lubrizol’s Southeast Asia Innovation Center in Jurong, Singapore. Together, these facilities form a robust regional network that supports Lubrizol’s mission to drive growth through collaboration and innovation.
