AKARTA: The French ambassador to Indonesia, Philippe Zeller, will give the French order of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques to nine Indonesian educators on Thursday.
The order is bequeathed to those who live by the values and aspirations of humanity. The recipients should also have intellectual passion and teach their values and knowledge with honor.
The recipients include Bagiono Djokosumbogo, an advisor at SEAMOLEC; Francine Herlen Tomasowa, dean of Brawijaya University’s School of Cultural Science; Ernawati Johan, a French language teacher at 21 High School Surabaya, East Java and Hesti Purwidiastuti, a French language teacher at 1 High School Malang, East Java. Employees and former employees of the French cultural center (CCF) who also received the honor were Hendra Setiawan, CCF Bandung’s French course director who is entering retirement; Cisca Tangkudung and Thelma Figaro, former teacher at CCF Jakarta and Habibah Prayitno and Naboen Pranas, teachers at CCF Jakarta.
The award ceremony will be on July 14 at the ambassador’s residence in South Jakarta at 12 p.m.
