AKARTA: Andi Nurpati’s lawyer, Denny Kailimang, says his client is considering filing a lawsuit against several lawmakers in the election mafia committee for their statements about her, voiced outside committee meetings.

Andi is a former General Elections Commission (KPU) member and is currently senior member of the Democratic Party, who has been implicated in a Constitutional Court document forgery case.

“It’s [the lawmakers’] right to shout about Andi during their meetings, but not outside the forum,” Denny Kailimang said late on Monday after Andi’s questioning session at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

He added that it was also within Andi’s right to file a lawsuit against the lawmakers for their slanderous remarks.

Denny said he was in the process of compiling data on lawmakers who had made statements against Andi, and was also preparing charges as the base of the lawsuit.
