edan: The Medan District Court has sentenced Fadli Sadama bin Mahmudin, alias Acin Zaid, to 11 years’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of supplying weapons to a terrorist group, which robbed the CIMB Niaga Bank in Medan, North Sumatra, and attacked a police station in Deli Serdang last year.
The sentence was four years lighter than the 15-year demanded by prosecutors. Presiding judge Agus Rumekso said in his verdict that the defendant was guilty of violating Article 15, in lieu of Article 9, of the 2003 antiterrorism law.
Agus explained Fadli’s involvement as an overseas weapons supplier was based on the discovery of two rifles in the defendant’s possession when he was arrested in Malaysia in December last year.
Fadli did not make any comment after the verdict was passed, despite being bombarded with questions from reporters.
