AKARTA: The Jakarta Maritime and Agriculture Agency said it would dispatch 750 inspectors to check on the health of livestock ahead of the Muslim day of sacrifice, Idul Adha.
Agency head Ipih Ruyani said the personnel would conduct inspections one week before the holiday, which will to fall on Nov. 6.
“We have begun training the workers,” Ipih said. Their primary tasks will be to prevent sick livestock from entering Jakarta.
The inspection workers will comprise 300 individuals from the Bogor Agriculture University (IPB), 25 from the Association of Indonesian Veterinarian and the rest coming from the agency.
Owners of animals slaughtered for Idul Adha are required to be certified by the Animal Husbandry Agency from their places of origin and by the Jakarta Maritime and Agriculture Agency.
