AKARTA: Residents of South Jakarta should brace themselves for heavy rain throughout November, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) says.
“The intensity will be around 300-400 millimeters per month, while for the north, central and other parts of the city it will only reach 200-300 millimeters per month,” BMKG information chief Kukuh Rubidiyanto said Saturday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He said that heavy rain in Jakarta would peak in January-February next year. However, the people of Jakarta would have to endure long spells of rain almost every day in December and into January.
Kukuh added that he could not predict whether the heavy rain would cause floods in the capital.
“It all depends on Jakarta’s soil surface and how well it can absorb water,” he said.
