AKARTA: Governor Fauzi Bowo says he is optimistic that the city can spend its entire budget for 2011 before the end of the year.
“We are seeing a better spending rate compared to last year,” Fauzi said.
Fauzi said Jakarta had spent 56 percent of its budget as of Nov. 11, better than 49.1 percent around the same time last year.
The city budget for 2011 is Rp 30.9 trillion (US$3.46 billion), up from Rp 26.7 trillion in 2010. The city has a proposed budget of Rp 36.02 trillion for 2012.
The city administration spent about 70 percent of its budget in 2010, leaving it a surplus of Rp 4.9 trillion.
